Thank goodness we are heading into Spring. Finally we can start to put the cold and dreary weather behind us and start to think about warmer weather and our new Spring/Summer wardrobes!!! Now is a good time to start packing away your winter woollies and instead bringing out your spring wardrobe. This year the spring fashion is pretty pastel colours and lots of vintage lace and crochet. As the shops start to get in the bulk of their spring fashions, now is a good time to shop to get yourself organised for the new season ahead.
Pretty Pastels
The wedding season is here and with pretty pastels as a strong trend, it makes for the perfect combination. Choose pale blue, pink or cream. Pale pink is soft and feminine perfect for a wedding.
This soft pink dress is not only bang on trend in colour but the vintage lace makes this a real show stopping style. The colour is perfect for wearing to any special occasion, be it the races or a wedding.
Some styles are using pastel marl, which blends two shades of colour together. This is often better for the complexion. For a smart tailored look, this classic shift dress would be another great occasion piece and could also be worn more casually if teamed with wedges or flip flops
For a dressy party number, this blush almost nude dress is stunning on. The colour works well if you have a slight colour (fake tan would do the job). This style and colour instantly say sexy and classy, the embellished neckline works well with the nude colour and makes this a great dress for a party or night out.
A lace dress doesn’t have to be just for a smart occasion. This cream vintage lace dress is a super flattering shape that skims over the body. Being a lovely soft cream, it would look great now with black tights and pumps or worn in the summer with flip flops as a great holiday day dress. Lace can be versatile it’s just the shape that will determine how to wear the dress.
Spring Styles to Wear Now
With Easter around the corner, lots of families will be getting together and as its the first bank holiday of the year it often means day to night time drinking and eating. I have picked out some great pieces that are available to buy now and are the perfect styles to be wearing for Easter through to summer.
This gorgeous printed drape top looks great with a pair of disco leggings or skinny jeans. It’s a mega flattering shape that slims down the arms and bum, perfect for wearing day to night. Team with a gold necklace and bangles for a rock chic look.
Animal prints have continued to be a big trend from last season. This bird print top is a good shape as the ¾ length sleeves provide coverage to the arms and the soft blue looks great with either denim or black. In the summer team with white skinny jeans.
This dress has been inspired by the designer Erdem who is famous for dressing the lovely Kate Middleton. Aztec prints are big news and this multi coloured shift dress looks great on. The print and shape is another flattering style on all figures and this would look great worn with heels or flats, day to night.
I love this dress! The fan print is so different but the shape of the dress is so versatile that it could be worn day or night for work or as a summer dress! I like the ¾ length sleeves as these really flatter the arm plus this dress would look great worn now with opaque tights.
Style Icon
Although this dress is huge and slightly over the top, I just love the shape. This haute couture dress by Dior is a real show stopper and deserves an Oscar too!
Question and Answer
I have a wedding reception to go to and don’t want to wear black but feel so comfortable in black, what can I go for instead?
Great news, this season sees navy and blue making a comeback. Navy is dark but much softer than black and a great alternative. Teamed with metallic accessories it can really look smart and would be perfect for a special occasion or party night. This navy shift dress has silver sequin detail on the front and would be the perfect dress for a wedding reception. It’s versatile enough to be able to be worn again for another event.
