Hurrah Spring is finally here and with the clocks going forward it’s now warmer and lighter which is definitely getting everyone in the mood for summer! Now is the time we all start planning for the summer and along with that our summer wardrobe. April is an important month for showcasing your latest new season purchases due to the Easter bank holiday period and the start of the wedding season. So this month I showcase your essential bank holiday pieces alongside giving some suggestions for any weddings you may have coming up.

Easter essentials

This spring has seen an explosion of coloured denim and now is the time to start wearing it! It’s a great way of adding some colour into your wardrobe and teamed with either a cream or white top can look really fresh.

Lee Scarlett Pink Jeans

These blush pink jeans from Lee are a great spring colour and pink is a dominant colour this season in the shops. Wear over the bank holiday for a great day time outfit.

Sugarhill Boutique Merry Go Blouse

Shirts and blouses are big news and are a MUST HAVE for your wardrobe. Easy to wear and great for taking you from day to night , a shirt is a worthwhile investment for any time of year and would be worth getting a couple to see you through the summer. This gorgeous printed shirt is ideal for Easter when popping out shopping or for going for a drink out.
If the weather stays nice, a great outfit to wear is a playsuit. Set to be big news this season, the playsuit looks set to replace the maxi dress this summer.

TFNC Spot Playsuit

This TFNC playsuit is a great colour and would look amazing with tan accessories. A playsuit is great for wearing day or night with heels or flats and will be a fail safe outfit you can’t live without this summer.
If you are out and about this bank holiday and want to dress up, opt for a printed shift dress.

This vintage print dress is a winner. Being a shift style is fits your shape without clinging, making it easy to wear. The half sleeve is great for adding some coverage if it turns chilly plus the sleeve shape is flattering on the arm. Vintage prints are big news as seen on the catwalk from Prada and Miu Miu, head out to the shops as there is definitely one out there for you.

Spring weddings

The fashion for occasion wear this year has turned very tailored. Think Victoria Beckham, whose current designs are dominating the red carpet. The tailored dress if cut well and can flatter almost all figures. Often investing in some good underwear that’s not too tight will make a huge difference to how the dress will look.

Hybrid One Shoulder Dress in Coral

This one shoulder coral pencil dress is a stunning shape on and the colour is great for any complexion. This style is currently seen on the likes of celebs such as Eva Longoria and is great at complementing hourglass figures as the attention is drawn to the top of the dress due to the asymmetric neckline. The coral colour is great shade and would lovely for any spring wedding.

Contrast Dress

If you prefer to have less on show, this next contrast dress is a winning style. The cream chiffon top promotes a great bust whilst the black high waisted pencil skirt dramatically slims the waist and elongates the body at the same time. This is great for adding curves and giving an hourglass figure.

Often it’s hard to choose a smart dress for a wedding if you’re not used to wearing dresses! The best option in this scenario is to opt for a dress that can be worn day and night. This vintage 50s inspired dress is perfect. Being tailored its smart and bang on trend yet the cotton fabric allow it to be worn in a more casual way with flats or pumps another time.

Closet Contrast Skater Dress

If tailored dresses are not for you, compromise by opting for a skater dress style. This cream skater dress is a stunning dress for a wedding and the perfect fit on any shape. The dress is tailored and fitted at the bust but gently flares out at the bottom, hiding any unwelcomed curves and drawing attention to the waist.

Question and Answer

I am off on a hen do this weekend and want a show stopping outfit, where can I get a little black dress that has the wow factor?

Spring time can often see a limited selection of little black dresses in the shops as it tends to be bright bolder colours that dominate the shops. It’s important that whatever style you choose, you feel comfortable in your dress so you can feel confident that you have the wow factor. This dress by London label Quontum available at Match is currently a real hit on the dance floor! Designed by a dancer, the fabric is unique as its super stretchy yet firm enough to stay in place allowing you to dance the night away! The cross mesh back truly has the wow factor, whilst the nude mesh panelling draws attention to the shape. Wear with killer black heels and you will be sure to the belle of the night!
